I am so glad you’re here

Whatever kind of change you’re navigating, you are in the right place.

Hi, I’m Jo— a cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist specialising in change.

Change can be exciting, but it can also feel unsettling, overwhelming, or leave us feeling stuck.

Sometimes it arrives suddenly — a loss, a shift in roles, a life transition, the end of something familiar.

Other times, it’s a quieter tug – a sense of wanting life to feel different, or a longing for something new.

My work is about creating calm, supportive spaces where you can steady yourself, reconnect with what matters, and find the clarity and confidence to move forward.

science-BASED THERAPY THAT’S DELIVERED WITH HEART AND SOUL

The Science

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). These are all evidence-based therapies, meaning that lots of research studies have demonstrated their effectiveness. You’ll find these therapies recommended in NICE guidelines for the treatment of depression, anxiety, menopause symptoms, long term health conditions, and pain management, to name a few.

I take a bio-psycho-social stance meaning that therapy is informed by biological factors (e.g. your physical health, genetic vulnerabilities etc), psychological factors (e.g your coping skills, self esteem etc), social factors (e.g your relationships, environment etc), and the inter-play between these factors.

So when I say that your therapy program is tailored uniquely to you, I mean it!

Which brings me on to the heart and soul bit…

THE HEART AND SOUL

As  a self-confessed therapy geek, I couldn’t resist the urge to try and condense the knowledge I’ve acquired as a therapist into a simple, powerful formula.  This change formula underpins every aspect of Making Your Way, from 1:1 therapy, to The Goodness Collective, courses and workshops, right through to my guided journal and essential oil blends.

Grounded in contextual and behavioural science, my change formula centres around three core skill-sets:

Steady Me. Guide Me. Free Me.

    The Anchor symbolises Steady Me

Skills cultivated here are : Awareness; Curiosity; Presence

  The Compass symbolises Guide Me

Skills cultivated here are : Purpose; Intention; Values-Based Action

    The Swallow symbolises Free Me

Skills cultivated here are : Compassion; Openness; Flexibility
